Code of conduct
ondiscute is a place for conversation open to everyone, young people included. To keep it that way, everyone who enters accepts these rules.
The rules
- Respect. Disagree without insulting. No personal attacks.
- No hate. No racist, antisemitic, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise discriminatory speech; no glorification of violence or terrorism.
- No harassment. Don't pursue people who don't want to talk to you; no threats, no intimidation.
- No sexual content. No sexual talk or links, in any salon.
- Protecting minors, no exceptions. Young people use ondiscute. Soliciting a minor (asking for photos, meetings, contact details, sexual talk) or any content sexualising children leads to a permanent ban and a report to the authorities.
- Privacy. Don't post other people's personal information (address, phone, photos…) — or your own. Phone numbers and emails are hidden automatically.
- No spam. No advertising, chain messages, link bursts or flooding.
- No impersonation. Don't pretend to be someone else, or a moderator.
- Obey the law. Nothing illegal: hacking, scams, drugs, weapons, etc.
How moderation works
- A salon's creator can delete messages, kick someone out for 15 minutes or close the salon.
- Anyone can report a message; the site team reviews reports.
- The 🆘 Not OK? button lets anyone protect themselves instantly and alert the team.
- Automatic filters block hateful terms, turn swear words into funny ones and limit flooding and links.
- Conversations are logged and kept for one year so abuse can be handled and lawful requests answered.
Sanctions
Depending on severity: message deleted, temporary removal from a salon, site-wide ban (temporary or permanent). Illegal content may be passed on to the relevant authorities.
