What is ondiscute?
ondiscute is a live chat organised in rooms called salons. Anyone can join an open salon or create their own, public or private, in seconds, from a web browser.
Is it free?
Yes. ondiscute is free, with no ads and no subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. You just pick a nickname, confirm your age and accept the charter. No email address is required.
How do I create a room?
On the home page, type a name for your salon, choose public or private, then “Open the salon”. You become its moderator.
What is the difference between a public and a private salon?
A public salon is listed among the open salons. A private salon is not listed anywhere: only people who have its link can join.
How long does a salon stay open?
Salons created by visitors are temporary: they close automatically after 30 minutes with nobody inside. Official salons are always open.
How do I report a message?
Every message has a “Report” button. Reports are reviewed by the moderation team, who can delete the message and remove its author.
What happens to my messages?
They stop being displayed after 30 days. A conversation log is kept for one year to handle abuse, then deleted.
Is ondiscute open to young people?
Yes, ondiscute is open to everyone. To protect younger users: no sexual content, phone numbers and emails hidden automatically, swear words replaced, a Report button on every message and a 🆘 button to block someone instantly and alert the team.
What if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Press 🆘 “Not OK?” at the top of the salon: instant advice and helplines, block the person everywhere — even if they change nickname — and alert the moderators.
